FOTM is a public, mountain users’ forum with the following purpose: To ensure the appropriate management of Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) by the assigned management authority in the best interests of ecology, recreational use and eco-tourism in keeping with the Park's founding principles of an urban national park.
FOTM is registered as an NPO: Registration No.: 262-431 NPO.
You can read more about us on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thefriendsoftablemountain.
Our primary concern is safety and security on TMNP and we will continue to lobby for better crime prevention on TMNP by SANParks and other law enforcement agencies. We have also partnered with a number of NPOs like the Sugarbird Project and The Helihack Initiative for invasive alien clearing on TMNP. In order to prevent further degradation of the trails on
TMNP we have employed a small team of keen trail workers who have been doing some
fantastic work clearing and fixing trails. Our progress thus far is as follows:
Devils Peak
Newlands Ravine
Corridor Ravine
Rooikat loop
Nursery Ravine
Suther Peak / Karbonkelberg
Sandy Bay / Rocket Road
Devils Peak middle traverse
Devils Peak upper traverse
Devils Peak / Minor Peak upper zigzag
Grootkop
Llundudno Ravine
Chapmans Peak
Please support our advocacy efforts and our small projects on TMNP that are making a big difference. If you are feeling particularly generous or are a corporate sponsor and wish to donate R1000 or more and need a SARS 18a tax certificate, then please contact us at team@friendsoftablemountain.org (this requires a different payment process).
